I flew directly from Auckland to Beijing and after 13 hours flightt I arrived in Beijing Capital International Airport. Waau. Big and beautiful…

After thorough checks for Svineflu (H1N1) the immigration was surprisingly easy. Few minutes and very efficient…

Well arrived the first challenge arose: No one spoke english, and I needed to get to my hotel. A taxi stand helped after I showed the address in CHINESE…

I was of course ripped of by the driver, but arrived safely at the small hotel (Zhongtang Courtyard ) in a small alley to a main street (XiSi street). A bit spookey at first, but the hotel is actually very traditional and nice. I can recommend it because of its location and charm. But the beds are very hard and the shower facilities are so-so.

I more or less immidiately rented a bike and drove to the Forbidden City and Tianamin Square… Se my other blog entries..

Dinner was a surprise, as I chose a local restaurant and the menu was in… chinese. But it tasted delicious anyway. I have no idea what I ate though.
