After the succefuld visit to Ramthambhore national Park the trip went to Agra, the home of the majestic Taj Mahal. This was the major reason I wanted to visit India… I had planned to go there at full moon. But I had not included the Indian ways…
You see… Taj Mahal is open every day from sunrise to sunset. On full moon also in the evening. And Apr 9 was full moon. However, you have to book you ticket in advance, to enter at night. And also include your passport. Physical!
So I had no chance at all to do this. So I chose the next best: I went there, and just stayed outside. Beautiful….
The next morning, friday, Taj Mahal is closed, so I went to a garden behind the Taj – actually the place where the TWIN Taj Mahal was planned, but a BLACK version – and according to plans, a silver flyover the Jamura river would connect the two Taj Mahals. But the Maharaja was thrown over by his son – and imprisoned, and the plans were archived. The foundation is there though.
Saturday I went at sunrise and this time also inside. WAAU. There are millions of details. Everything made by hand, and precious stones, semi precious stones, marble and carvings everywhere. The Taj is monumentally big and 100% symmetric.
The tomb inside so rich decorated that is was breath taking. Of course, that did not hinder the thousands of tourists from making a lot of noice, and climb everything they could get their hands on… Sad.
