After a mere 6½ hours flight from Tokyo I arrived in Hawaii saturday morning… A bit surprising as I left Tokyo saturday evening…

However, Hawaii is GMT-10, while Japan is GMT+9 – but they are on each side of the international dateline, which I played with when I was at Fiji – remember?!

I am now at my hotel in Waikikki Honolulu, and I love it… However, it seems like it is the same everywhere in the world… When a paradise location is found, like Phuket, Canary Islands, Majorca, Gold Coast, Fiji, Hawaii, Dominican Republic etc. they are plastered with push hotels, restaurants, nightlife, travel agents an souvenir shops….

And then the “real” magic have dissapeared. It doesn’t change the fact that the landscape and climate of Hawaii is wonderful. And to my suprise, I really enjoy the fact, that I can actually read the signs and communicate!

I have rented a car – and guess what – I got an open Jeep Wrangler. Perfect fo Hawaii. 27 degrees Celcius and windy – peeerfect in an open car.

Yesterday I did a circle around the south part of the island including of course Pearl Harbour… Everybody remembers the attack, which killed 2000+ americans and disabled 29 ships anchored in the harbour… Only 25 japanese were killed!

This attack was the direct reason for the US to enter the 2nd world war. Needles to say, the war ended just after the atomic bomb hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. So in a sense, I have now visited the starting reason of the 2nd world war and the finishing reason… Both are thought provoking…
